Groups are how people get organized in ChMeetings, based on criteria that are specific to your community. For example, if there’s a book club, it might come with a dedicated group. You can find groups in the main menu.
Group Availability
The groups you see depend on your community’s settings.
- Some groups might be dedicated to staff or administrative work- so you will not see them in your Groups section if you are not assigned to such work.
- Groups may not be made available to those who are not part of that group. In this case, you will only see such a group if an administrator adds you to it.
- Groups may not be public. Such groups are not available to you if you are not logged into a member account. However, it is mandatory to make the group available to members in order to restrict public access. Therefore, such a group will become visible to you once you log in.
Group Details
When clicking on a group, you can access additional information about that specific group:
- A group description,
- Group Leaders and Members, if enabled by administrators,
- An option to Join or Request to Join the Group, as enabled by administrators.
Join or Leave Groups
If you can see a group that you are not a member of, you may be able to join it, if the feature is enabled by administrators.
If the group is open, you can join it anytime by clicking the Join button at the top.
If the group receives new members, but requires approval, you will see a Request to Join button.
When you are already a member of a group, you will have the option to Leave it.
