This guide shows you how to retrieve your data from Quicken to then import it into ChMeetings.
Export from Quicken
To migrate your data to ChMeetings, you must first export it from Quicken, as explained below. Throughout all exports, make sure to select all columns and include all dates. Use clear file names for your export files, and double check your data before importing to ChMeetings.
Accounts
Follow the steps below to export your data from Quicken:
- Go to the Tools menu.
- Select Accounts List.
- Click Print at the bottom left corner of the window.
- Check Export to, and select CSV File.
- Click Export.
Categories
To export Categories from Quicken:
- Go to the Reports menu.
- Select Spending.
- Select Itemized Categories.
- In the Itemized Categories window, click the Update to show dropdown, select Category Summary.
- Click the Export to Excel icon at the top right of the window.
Funds (Tags)
In Quicken, Funds are managed as Tags. To export them, please follow the steps below:
- Go to Reports.
- Select Spending.
- Select Itemized Tags.
- Include all dates in the Date Range dropdown.
- Click Print.
- Check Export To and select CSV File.
- For Print Range, select All.
- Click Export.
Transactions
To export transactions from Quicken:
- Go to the Reports menu.
- Select Banking.
- Select Transaction.
- In the Transaction window, click the Settings (gear) icon at the top right.
- For Date Range, Include All Dates.
- Under Show Columns, make sure all columns are checked.
- Click OK.
Import to ChMeetings
Now that you have exported your data from Quicken, it is time to import it to ChMeetings. Let’s look at each data type to see how you can do so:
Accounts
Accounts must be created manually. Use your exported file to retrieve account names and other relevant information, then recreate them within ChMeetings’ Accounting module. See Manage Financial Accounts for a full guide.
Categories
ChMeetings comes with a dedicated tool to import Accounting Categories. Go to Import Categories or Subcategories to see how it’s done.
Funds
Funds must also be created manually. Retrieve fund names and other relevant information, from your export files, then recreate your Funds within ChMeetings’ Accounting module. See Manage Funds for guidance.
Transactions
You can import transactions into the desired Financial Account within ChMeetings. Please see Import Transactions for details about the process. Moving forward, you can also link your bank account for faster imports in the future. See Link with Your Bank to learn more.
