Adding a new person directly to a group
When there is a new member that you need to add into ChMeetings, you can assign them directly to a specific group.
- Go to the Groups module.
- Find the group to which you would like to assign the new member.
- Click the options button next to it, then select Add Person.
- Alternatively, you can click on the group name to access it, then click the arrow next to Add People, at the top right. This will reveal the option to Add a new person.
- You will now have the option to fill out the person’s profile, to which you will notice that the group is automatically attached. Save their profile when you are ready.

Adding an existing member to a group
There are three ways to add existing people into a group:
- From the group members’ list, in the Group module.
- From the member’s profile.
- From the list of people within the People module, where you can add users in bulk, and where you can also apply filters to include people based on specific criteria.
From the group members’ list
To add someone from the group members’ list:
- Go to the Groups module.
- Click on the group where you would like to add the member/s.
- Click on Add People.
- Start typing the person’s name, and you will be shown suggestions of existing profiles that include the characters you have typed.
- You can add multiple people the same way. When a person has been selected, they will be added underneath the Select Person field. If you change your mind about someone, you can click the Delete (x) button next to their name to remove them from the list.
- Click on Save when you are ready. Your members will now display within the Group you assign them to.
From the member’s profile
You can add individual people, one by one, to a group, right from within their ChMeetings profile, as follows:
- Go to the People module.
- Find the person you want to add, then click their name to open up the profile in view mode.
- Click on Edit.
- Now, find the Groups field, where you can select one or several existing groups to add the person to. You can remove a group selection by clicking the Delete (x) icon next to them.
From the People list
The People list is where you can add people to groups, either individually, or in bulk. Here is how to do so:
- Go to the People module.
- Find the people you want to add to a group, then check the checkbox next to their name to select them. You can select one or several people.
- Click Bulk Actions, then select Add to Groups.
- Select the group or groups you would like to add these people to. You can select more than one group.
- The groups that you have already selected will be highlighted within the list and added to your selection. You can remove a group selection by clicking the Delete (x) icon next to them. Click on Add to complete the process.
- The people you selected have been successfully added to your selected group(s). You can find them listed by going to Groups and then selecting the group you assigned them to.
From the People list, with filters
If you would like to add people to specific groups, depending on certain criteria, you can use the Advanced Search feature within the People module to filter people according to your needs.
To add people to groups using this method:
- Go to the People module.
- Open the Advanced Search panel.
- In Advanced Search, we recommend that you filter by Groups, where you can choose whether to filter for people who are in specific groups and not in others, or for people who are not included in particular groups. If you would like to filter for people who are not added to any group at all, then please leave the field blank and it will be set to “Any Group” by default.
- You can choose to filter by any criteria you need, that is available within Advanced Search. In the example below, we are filtering by age range.
- Click Apply to display your search results.
Removing people from groups
There are two ways to remove people from groups:
- From a person’s profile.
- From the Groups or People list.
From the person’s profile
To remove a single individual from a group:
- Go to People.
- Find the person you want to remove, click on the options button next to their name, then select Edit.
- Once the member’s profile opens up in Edit mode, go to the Groups field and click the Delete (x) icon next to the group that you would like to remove them from.
- Click Save to save your changes. This member will no longer be assigned to the group you just removed.
From the group members or People list
To remove one person or more from a group, using the Groups or People list,
- Go to the Groups module and click the name of the group from which you would like to remove people. You will then be transferred to the People module, and you will only see a list of those included within the group you just selected.
- Alternatively, instead of going through the Groups module, you can also go directly to the People module. The only difference is that now, your list will not be filtered to a specific group. You can apply filters of your own, using Advanced Search.
- Select the people that you would like to remove from a specific group. Click Bulk Actions, then select Remove from Groups.
- This will display a window where you can choose one or several of the groups that a person is part of. Simply select them from the list.
- You can remove specific groups from the selection - click the Delete (x) icon next to them to do so. Once you made your selections, click on Remove.
