Good communication is key to successful church events. This guide takes you through the ways in which you can stay connected to your event attendees and keep them engaged.
Create and Share Events
Before configuring any communication, your event must be created within ChMeetings. Go to the Events module to add your event.
Choose the event’s visibility for either Users, Members, or Public audiences. Public events can be embedded on your portal via the Event and Upcoming Events Builder Cards, and are shareable. So, after creating an event, you can copy a direct link to share with your servants or community.
Event Registration Options
ChMeetings offers two registration types. The type of registration you use for the event determines whether you get contact information from attendees.
- Detailed Registration lets you collect individual attendee information (name, contact,etc.).
- Simple Registration is a quick option collecting attendee count only. With this registration type, you can only communicate with the ticket owner (the member making the registration). You cannot communicate to other attendees, since their contact information is not being collected.

Automated Communication
Automated Tasks help you streamline event communication:
In particular, the New Event Attendee task, triggers 15 minutes after a first-time (or returning within 12 months) check-in and allows you to automate the following
- Send Email/SMS/Push Notification to new attendees.
- Add new attendees to groups/ministries.
- Create follow-ups.
You can also use the Reminder task to automatically send event reminders on a recurring basis - this is particularly useful for recurring events. Reminders can be sent as emails, SMS, or push notifications.
Volunteer Coordination and Communication
Within the Events module, you have a full volunteer scheduling and communication suite that lets you define roles (e.g., greeter), volunteer counts, and leaders. You can assign volunteers individually, by group, or from recent participants.
The volunteer scheduling feature also comes with the communication options you need to keep volunteers engaged:
- Send a signup sheet for volunteers to RSVP themselves for the events and roles they want to contribute to.
- Email volunteers and send them their schedule with a dedicated feature.
- Send volunteer reminders as emails or push notifications.
Event-Related Community Communication
Attendee communication is fast and easy, using a dedicated section for your list of attendees, and a quick Push Notification option on your event page.
Communicate With Attendees
Contact your list of attendees under the People or People & Tickets section of your event. Here is where you can select desired attendees and contact them via SMS, Email, or Push Notification.
Send Event Push Notification To Your Community
Send quick push notifications to your community from the event page to let everyone know about the event and invite them to register. This feature is based on your event visibility and attendance settings and is available for Members-only and Public events. For example, if you set up the event for a specific group, or for the respondents of a form, then notifications only go to people who meet your attendance criteria. If your event is set to All or No One, then notifications will go to everyone in your people list.
Here is where you can find this feature on your event page, depending on the type of event:
- For one-time events, you will find the feature in the event’s options menu (...), on the top right corner of the screen, next to People/People & Tickets.
- For recurring events, the feature is available in the option menu of each event occurrence.
Note that if your church is subscribed to the Branded App, you can also send notifications to guests, provided that they have your church app installed.
