If you’re new to ChMeetings Accounting, this guide will help you get started. Here’s what you’ll learn next:
We strongly recommend that you check our guide on How Accounting Works For Churches if you need a hand learning the basics. |
Get to Know the Accounting Feature
Let’s first explore the ChMeetings Accounting feature.
What is ChMeetings Accounting?
ChMeetings Accounting is a built-in Accounting feature, within ChMeetings, which lets you manage church finances along with other church operations. It’s connected to your People and Contributions databases, so your data flows smoothly between these aspects of your work.
Navigate the Accounting Feature
To reach the Accounting section, check the main ChMeetings Menu.
Here is where you will find several subsections for different aspects of your financial management work, including a Dashboard a place to manage Accounts, Funds, Categories or Payees; a centralized Transactions list, and more advanced tools you’ll learn more about as you work with ChMeetings.
Set Up Accounting
Before you begin using ChMeetings Accounting, there is a bit of setup to create a framework within which your financial data may be added. This means creating accounts, categories, and funds based on which you can then add transactions.
Our team offers free data transfer, which includes your accounting data. If you choose to work with us, then we will do the setup for you, too. If you are importing the data yourself, you must go through the setup before the import.
Our Accounting Setup guide takes you through the steps you need to take to get everything ready.
Migrate From Other Platforms
If you’ve been managing your church accounting in another platform, you can migrate your data to ChMeetings.
We offer free data transfers for all paid accounts, so if you’d prefer to leave it to us, please get in touch, and our team will migrate the data for you.
If you’d like to do it yourself, here are some guides to help you through the process:
- Create Import Rules, required before setup if you’re not transitioning from a platform that exports categorized transactions, such as Quickbooks. If moving from Quickbooks, we still recommend that you set them up after your first import.

- Migrate From Quickbooks Desktop
- Migrate From Quickbooks Online
- Migrate From Quicken
❕ Keep in mind that church accounting is single-entry, and ChMeetings Accounting also works on this principle. This means that the setup and workflow may not be the same as in double-entry systems, such as Quickbooks or Quicken. Please check How Accounting Works For Churches for more, if you haven’t already.
What’s Next?
Once your setup is done and you’ve migrated any previous accounting data, you are ready to start using some of the other features within ChMeetings Accounting.
